Bellemoor Swimming Gala 2008
Thursday 24th January
Over 50 boys from years 7, 8 and 9 took part in the annual school swimming gala at the Quays swimming complex in Southampton. The boys were competing in an inter-house competition and taking part in front crawl, breaststroke, backstroke and relay races. With points up for grabs to help their respective houses, the competition was exciting and fierce at times, but the boys overall behaviour and attitude was superb, a real credit to the school.
The quality of swimming on show was of a very high standard and all of the boys should be commended on how well they swam. The level of the quality of swimming on show made the races very tight and helped make the afternoon a great success.
After collating the results the final result proved to be fairly close, with only 12 points separating the four houses.
Final Scores:
1st Engineers 45pts
2nd Aviators 37pts
3rd Mariners 35pts
4th Venturers 33pts
Well done to all the boys who took part!
The afternoon was again completed with the now world famous staff relay. This was one for the second year running by the team of Mr Wilding, Mr Hadfield and Mr Ellis. The race was a lot closer than last year, the team of Mr Guyer (PE PGCE), Mr Hall and Mr Staples put up a brave fight but experience came through in the end for the slightly older staff team.
An enjoyable afternoon was had by all and a big thank you goes to the boys who took part, the year 11 helpers, the PE staff for organising the event and to the large number of parents who supported the event.
