Partnership Development in Schools Conference for Students
On 2nd May 4 students, accompanied by Miss Peak and a PGCE student teacher, attended a conference at Chilworth Manor to work with youngsters from 4 other Southampton schools and receive training from students and staff from Wildern School on how to evaluate lessons and give feedback to teachers. They discussed the components of a good lesson, agreed the protocol for giving feedback to teachers on their lessons and devised a contract to be signed by all parties involved in the process. This is in preparation for September when students will be involved in lesson observations of PGCE students, newly qualified teachers and interviewees. The conference was funded by the Teacher Development Agency and supported by Southampton University. The boys enjoyed lunch in the restaurant and a walk in the grounds. They are to be congratulated on their maturity and willingness to present their ideas to other schools. Well done Ryan Wing, Sam Corrigan, Charlie Dunn and Otis Cope.
Southampton City Choirs Pyramid Concert
Our Mr Roberts led the Southampton POPs Choir at this very recent event at the Turner Sims Concert Hall. The choir was only formed in January and includes some of our students. In addition a couple of our boys provided musical accompaniment to the choirs taking part. The singing was excellent and as always, our students’ behaviour was impeccable. Well done Mr Roberts and the POPs Choir for a very enjoyable evening’s entertainment.
SWAC Power Boating
“On 1st May some Year 7 boys went on a reward trip to Southampton Water Activities Centre to try power boating. After a look around the docks we took off for a very fast and wet ride! Everyone had a try at driving the boat and all the boys would like to thank SWAC for a great day!
