Dear Parents,

 

The last 5 days of term, 17- 23 July will be “Activities Week. We have produced a fun filled programme for the whole school. Each student will be taken off his usual timetable and will be participating in activities within their year group and House.

 

During the week there will be a variety of activities going on in and out of school. We have moved Sports day to Thursday of Activities week this year. On top of that the PE department has organised to take Years 8, 9 and 10 to The New Forest for a day each. Expressive Arts are offering a mountain of activities including a Theatre and Drama workshop, Music trip (details to follow) and Art workshops to Year 7, 8 and 9. Maths, Science and ICT will running several activities including boat making for Year 7, 8 and 10 . Year 7 will reconstruct the Battle of Hastings with the Humanities department. The Army are coming in (weather permitting) to work with Year 9 and 10 doing a variety of teambuilding activities, laser shooting and the large inflatable obstacle course and finally the Heads of House have organised a Silly Sports Day for the whole school on the last day.

 

The school day will start and finish at the usual times with activities starting promptly at 8.30am. Students who are late may find that they miss out on activities and will be placed in an appropriate venue for the day. On the final day of term, Wednesday 23^rd July school will finish at the end of p4 at 12.50pm. Those students who receive free school dinners should collect them at break time.

 

Due to the nature of the activities we do ask that students come to school dressed in old clothes that they may get wet, muddy and dirty (Shorts or trousers, no jeans if possible, T-Shirt, sweatshirt and trainers). Students who attend the PE trip will need to wear long trousers and trainers if they wish to participate. School rules still apply during the week and we ask parents to remind your sons that jewellery is not allowed. We also ask, especially if it is hot, that students have with them sun cream, a sun hat and a large water bottle.

 

USH is offering this week free of charge (with the exception of one small trip) as a reward to all students for working hard throughout the year. We still have the same strict guidelines on the expected behaviour of the students and any who do not meet those will be sent home for the duration of the week.

 

Please fill out the attached medical/permission form and return it to Mrs Lerego in room 4 NO later then July 14^th.
