The School has been though a difficult period of change. The previous headteacher retired in 2003, and the Governors were unable to find an immediate replacement. The School was therefore run under interim arrangements until the post was re-advertised. Ms Cassie Ellins was then appointed to lead the School from September 2004. While we knew that the School had some weaknesses we were all disappointed when the Ofsted Inspection of November 2004 put the School into special measures.

The Governors appointed Ms Ellins because we could see that she shared our vision for the School. We are therefore delighted that through her leadership, and the hard work of everyone, the School no longer requires special measures.

The latest Ofsted report of March 2006 proves that real progress has been made in a short period of time. However, we are not complacent and the Governors will continue to support the School to make sure that continuing progress and improvements lead to higher standards, and that we meet our aim of becoming the local school of choice.
