What is a GCSE in Drama?
The practical nature of this subject and the work it entails makes this a popular subject. It provides the opportunity to develop more detailed and powerful drama than in the lower school.
 
Areas which will be covered over the two years are:
 
·             The practical drama will help you develop your performance skills in improvisation, devised work and scripted work.
·             You also have to write essays about the plays that you perform and other plays that you see, in preparation for exams and written part of coursework.
 
 
How will I be assessed?
60% Coursework
You will choose from a wide range of options including acting, improvisation, devised thematic work or technical optics like lighting or design.
 
40% Written paper
You will study a play and answer questions on how you would play a particular role. You will also answer a question on a live production you have watched during your course.
