Media Studies
50% Coursework
The coursework in Media Studies involves the meeting of three Assessment Objectives which focus on knowledge and understanding, analysis and interpretation and production skills. The coursework is to be completed in two sections, with Section A comprising three pieces each of 700-800 words or the equivalent in design and production work. And Section B, which is a practical production, from conception to realisation, together with a supporting account of 700-800 words.
50% Controlled Test
There is one final exam which is three hours long and tests all three Assessment Objectives. The test is usually released a month before the exam, so students will have the opportunity to work on the exam in advance, in school, prior to the exam. When the paper is released to the candidates, the teacher can advise, but must avoid formal teaching of the topic area. Candidates are required to undertake four tasks, which are to be completed in two, one and a half hour sessions.
